What Charmi Mistake?

Chubby actress Charmi Kaur is back to silver screen after a hiatus with a poorly etched script Prema Oka Maikam. And yes, the film by Chandu which portrays Charmi as Mallika, a high-profile call girl, opened to weak reviews. In one word, the film has poured water on her dreams to comeback with a bang.

It’s no doubt that Charmi is one of the few talents in T-town who grew up on her own without a God father. During her heydays, she shared screen space with stars like Prabhas, Jr NTR, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Balakrishna and Mohan Babu. But all of a sudden, what went wrong for Charmi? What is holding Charmi back? We tried to crack it to an extent.

After her women-centric flicks Mantra and Mangala garnered critical as well as commercial acclaim, her fortunes suddenly changed and since then she hasn’t had tasted success. It’s our Ram Gopal Varma who roped in her in his “epic” film Dongala Mutha and that’s the first step of her fall. And she never looked back since then. Her career, slowly, turned a downward spiral. Thanks to a handful of item numbers (Sakkubhai and Nellore girl) and cameos that brought back her to limelight. Else, she would have hit rock bottom.

Moving towards her upcoming films, only Pratighatana is progressing while her other two films RUM and Mantra 2 were stuck. We hear that RUM was stalled while Mantra sequel may not take place at all.
